People Operations Manager
Scale and strengthen a people-first operations function, creating consistent, high-quality experiences that support growth, protect culture, and help both our people and the business thrive.
About the role
The People Operations Manager is responsible for running a high-quality, scalable people operations function that enables the business to grow effectively. Reporting to the People Director, this role acts as the operational backbone of the function, translating strategy into practical delivery and ensuring initiatives are executed from idea through to outcome. It is accountable for delivering efficient, compliant, and well-structured people processes that create a consistent and positive employee experience, while supporting leaders with the insight and infrastructure needed to make informed decisions.
As the company continues to scale, this role is critical in maintaining and strengthening an already strong people and culture foundation. The focus is on making what has been built consistent, repeatable, and scalable, so that the elements that matter most to people are protected as we grow.
This role requires a genuine passion for people, with high levels of emotional intelligence and the ability to balance individual needs with business priorities. It plays a key role in shaping an environment that works well for both the people and the organisation. Over time, the role is expected to grow in scope, with a pathway towards broader ownership of the People function.

Who you are and how you’ll make an impact
You bring experience from a People Operations, HR, or similar environment where you have taken ownership of operational delivery and driven work through from idea to execution and optimisation. Your background reflects a strong focus on outcomes, with the ability to plan effectively, manage competing priorities, and follow through to completion while maintaining a high standard of quality.
You are comfortable working with systems, data, and reporting, using accurate and well-structured information to support decision-making and improve how the function operates. Your understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice allows you to ensure processes are compliant while remaining practical and business-focused.
You approach work with a process-driven mindset, consistently looking for ways to improve efficiency, scalability, and consistency. You are highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to bring structure to complex or evolving areas.
You build effective relationships with stakeholders across the business, communicating clearly and providing pragmatic support that balances employee needs with business priorities. You understand how people operations contributes to overall business performance and bring a level of commercial awareness that helps ensure your work delivers meaningful impact.
Over time, you demonstrate growing confidence and capability in taking ownership of broader People topics, contributing to the continued development and scaling of the function.
A day in the life
Your day might start by reviewing progress on a People initiative, checking timelines, resolving blockers, and ensuring delivery remains on track. You could then move into refining a core process, such as onboarding or performance reviews, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency or consistency and working with stakeholders to embed changes.
Throughout the day, you engage with employees and managers, responding to queries and providing guidance on people-related matters, ensuring a clear and supportive experience. You may spend time in our HRIS system reviewing data accuracy or pulling together insights on headcount or attrition to support a leadership discussion.
You collaborate regularly with teams across the business, aligning on upcoming changes such as promotions or salary reviews and ensuring plans are well-structured and communicated effectively. Alongside this, you maintain a focus on compliance, reviewing documentation or updating policies to ensure everything remains current and audit-ready.
Across all of your work, you balance immediate operational needs with longer-term improvements, ensuring that processes not only run smoothly today but continue to evolve as the business grows.
